Ancient giant tortoises lumbering across volcanic landscapes, the finches that made Darwin famous flitting through dense, moist highland forests- visiting the Galapagos Islands is a once in a lifetime experience. Whether you visit the islands personally, or dream of the day you will, now you can have a taste of Galapagos' most eco-friendly coffee.

The farm where we source our Santa Cruz Island coffee is owned by Scott and Maria-Elena, both very dedicated to land conservation and environmental stewardship. In 2004, they bought 5 acres and discovered native coffee bushes growing amongst the native flora and many invasive plant species. After much dedication, frustration, love, and battles with weeds and bugs, they have eliminated the invasive species and planted thousands of endemic plants and trees.

After 2 decades of hard work, the farm is now a thriving agroecological system spanning almost 40 acres of restored highland forest with nearly 20,000 coffee bushes scattered throughout the property. It is a food forest, that produces a variety of fruits, vegetables, roots and herbs for the local people as well as the foraging birds and animals.

The coffee ripens under the shade of other trees such as avocados, guavas, oranges, and towering cedar trees. All stages in the entire coffee cycle from cultivation to processing follow strict environmental regulations ensuring the continued protection of this precious ecosystem. Tree Frog Coffees is very excited to have a direct trade relationship with this rare and exquisite organic, shade grown and bird-friendly coffee from the most unique coffee growing region in the world.

  • Why are you called Tree Frog Coffees?

At Tree Frog Coffees, we know just how important frogs are as indicators to all sorts of environmental problems.  Frogs can only survive in a proper ecosystem, so when the frogs start dying, there is a problem.

This is one of the main reasons why Tree Frog Coffees only purchases beans from farms that are using sustainable and ethical methods.  Not only is this better for the frogs, but the entire ecosystem, which of course includes us.

We’re saving the frogs and the farmers, one cup at a time!
